Now I feel sick. Thanks Alex. Time for me to really put my research skills to use when it comes to purchasing food. Harvest Co-op, here I come! Farmer's Market, meet your new best friend!

Hain can't be vegan if they own companies that make Morningstar burgers... those burgers have cheese and milk in them.
I'd love to know what people, esp. Alex, think of Trader Joe's.

Does anyone know anything about Amy's foods? I would like to make more of my food myself and grow it but I live in a small college town in east texas and there is only crap around here. Anyhow Amy's Foods claims to be a vegetarian family runned company and I was just wondering if anyone has the information to confirm this. Thank you.

I have read that some of the major players in Hain Celestial are Philip Morris, Exxon and Monsanto. That makes a lot of sense as they continue to grow by acquisition. It seems odd that as we strive to purchase something a little healthier we are unknowingly contributing to smoking, environmental pollution and genetically modified foods! So look before you leap AND KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS. It used to be a little more transparent, now the big players are cloaking themselves in investment funds and holding companies like Vanguard, Barclay's Global Investor's Holdings Ltd and Fidelity Management and Research Corp. The bottom line is that once you go public like Hain Celestial, it's easy to lose track of who you're making money for as well as how those profits are being utilized.

all the more reason to make everything from SCRATCH! and buy LOCAL! there's more to exploitation than whether an animal was harmed or your health is damaged. there's also exploitation of workers, the land, local businesses...the list goes on. thanks for bringing attention to this issue.

I've read Hain only sells vegan products, so they get my $. As for the other companies; that's why it's a good idea to do your shopping from the produce department & bulk bins...

What's wrong with Hain Celestial? Last I heard, they still have a conscience.
